My mom was in town for graduation, so we took a trip to see Millenium Park and the Art Institute in downtown Chicago. I really enjoyed the harsh summer light and the vibrant summer colors.

The grittiness of the city against the rigid structure of the streets, buildings, and public transit have always fascinated me.

I have certainly been spoiled the last four years with Chicago architecture, interior design, and arts in general. The Palmer House (pictured above) has an incredible interior, as do the Palace and Oriental theaters.

The façades of the buildings aren’t bad either.

And of course, what’s summer in Chicago without hordes of children running around in public fountains?
